100 Black Men of Jacksonville help high school students in the college planning process with 13th Annual Infinite Scholar College Fair
Jacksonville, FL – The 100 Black Men of Jacksonville, Inc. (J100) will host their 13th Annual Infinite Scholars College Fair, January 21, 2017, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm, at the Jessie Ball duPont Center, 40 East Adams Street. This event will feature more than 30 National, Regional, and local colleges and universities to include various historically black colleges and universities (HBCU’s).
Previous participants of the fair have included Florida State College at Jacksonville, University of North Florida, Florida State University, University of Central Florida, Hampton University, Florida A & M University, the United States Naval Academy, Bethune-Cookman University and the Mayo School of Health and Sciences. More than $16 million in scholarships and financial aid have been offered by participating schools to hundreds of area students over the 12-year history of the local fair.
Local admissions, financial aid and student services personnel will conduct workshops on financial aid, understanding the planning process, college freshman survival tips and family money management. The J100 is recommending students register for the fair online and come prepared with high school transcript, admission test scores (if taken), two letters of recommendation, resume and essay on “Why I want to go to college.”
