Celebrating the rich history of Durkeeville and New Town communities with a focus on health and wellness. The 100 Black Men of Jacksonville History, Health and Wellness 5K course featured sites along Historic Durkeeville and New Town including; Edward Waters College, J.P. Small Park, and Dallas Graham Branch Library.
The event brought communities and families together to support mentoring and education efforts and partners throughout the Jacksonville community. Running enthusiasts, walkers and 100 supporters were invited to participate or attend the event to raise funds and awareness for the organization’s Bernard V. Gregory Endowed Scholarship Fund. The fund awards annual scholarships to incoming freshmen and returning college students in the Jacksonville area.
As part of the 100’s 100 Days of Health initiative, participants were encouraged to form teams, bringing together friends and family members to challenge themselves to complete the course as a health and wellness goal. Several teams honoring youth and mentees were among the early registrants.
